Trainer Susan Bourassa
“Horses are my passion!”
Susan Bourassa is the founding owner and on-site trainer at Great Bay Farm. She is a life-long equestrian who began riding as a child in the hunter ring, but soon found eventing to be her passion. After High School, she spent time as a working student for Olympian Karen O'Connor and later worked and traveled with Karen as her groom both nationally and internationally.
Susan went on to work as head trainer for Ben Hunt Hardaway, MFH, in Columbus, Georgia, where she was responsible for breaking and training a string of Fox Hunting horses. While in, college Susan worked full time for leading Steeple Chase Trainer F . Bruce Miller in Unionville, Pennsylvania. Over a 5 year period with Bruce, Susan became known for her skill working with young and/or difficult horses. Since then she has bought, trained, successfully competed, and sold many off-the-track race horses.
Susan currently lives on-site at Great Bay Farm with her husband, John Bourassa, and daughter Natalie. Her horses and students are in full training in eventing and busy traveling to shows all over the East Coast. You can see their success during the 2007 eventing season on our Upcoming Events page.
